Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LiveTranslate browser extension and the associated website livetranslate (together, the "Service"), operated by Bülent Tüm, Hürriyet Meydanı 30/A Çandar, 35500 Dikili, İzmir, Türkiye ("we", "us", "our"). By installing, accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

LiveTranslate is a Chrome browser extension that captures audio from a browser tab of your choosing, transcribes the speech using third-party speech-to-text models, translates it using third-party machine translation providers, and displays the translated text in a side panel or overlay on the video. The Service is intended for personal productivity use such as understanding foreign-language videos, live streams and meetings.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you warrant that you are authorised to bind that company.

3. Account & device identifier

No account, email or password is required. The extension generates a random, anonymous device identifier (UUID) on first use and stores it locally in your browser. Your remaining balance is tied to this identifier. If you uninstall the extension or clear local storage, you may lose access to any remaining minutes on that device.

4. Free trial & credits

• New installations receive 10 free translation minutes.
• Additional minutes are sold as one-time credit packs. Purchased credits do not expire.
• We measure usage based on the actual audio duration processed by our speech-to-text provider.
• Silent segments and paused playback are not billed.

5. Payments & Merchant of Record

All payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles the transaction, collects applicable sales tax/VAT, issues invoices, and manages payment methods. When you make a purchase, your contract for that purchase is concluded with Paddle, in addition to these Terms between you and us for use of the Service. Paddle's own Buyer Terms also apply.

6. Pricing

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars (USD) on the Pricing page. The amount charged may be displayed in your local currency at checkout based on exchange rates determined by Paddle. Taxes and VAT are added where applicable by Paddle and displayed before you confirm the payment.

7. Refunds

Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy. EU customers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal which is also respected.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to translate content you have no legal right to access.
• Redistribute, resell or make the Service available to third parties without our permission.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass quotas, or extract bulk content from the Service.
• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, harassing, or abusive purpose.
• Use automation to generate artificial usage beyond normal personal use.

We may suspend or terminate access (including forfeiting unused credits) if we have a good-faith belief that you are in material breach of these Terms.

9. Third-party services

Audio chunks are transmitted to our backend, which in turn forwards them to third-party providers: OpenAI for speech-to-text and DeepL for machine translation. These providers have their own terms and privacy policies. By using LiveTranslate, you consent to this processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its source code, user interface, and branding, is owned by us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the extension for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Translation quality depends on third-party AI models and on the audio itself; we do not warrant that translations will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (via Paddle) in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of data, or business interruption.

13. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update the Service, pricing, or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Previously purchased credits remain valid under the pricing in effect at the time of purchase.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will make commercially reasonable efforts to refund the prorated value of your unused purchased credits.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. For consumers in the European Union, mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence also apply.
